Budapest, 25–29 August 2025 – This year’s ECS (Electronic Components and Systems) Summer School brought together 40 exceptional students from across Europe for an intensive five-day program in microelectronics, embedded systems, and the Internet of Things. The event was organized by AENEAS, the European Chips Skills Academy (ECSA), EPoSS, and the INSIDE Industry Association, and hosted by the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (BME-VIK).
The week opened with a welcome from Sándor Imre (BME VIK). Each day, participants worked closely with leading industry and academic experts, with the program focusing on a key topic of the ECS value chain. The overarching goal was to equip students with critical skills to strengthen the competitiveness of Europe’s future semiconductor industry.
What did the Summer School provide?
-
Hands-on sessions and lab visits – research and development in embedded systems and microelectronics.
-
Direct networking with industry professionals and researchers.
-
Interdisciplinary perspective: exploring the interconnected fields of semiconductors, chips, design, systems, IoT, AI, and quantum computing.
Results and Feedback
The participants successfully completed the five-day program, elevating their engineering knowledge to a new level. According to feedback, they particularly appreciated the hands-on approach, international teamwork, and the inspiring atmosphere of the Budapest location. At the closing forum, students expressed special thanks to the industry and academic members of AENEAS, the INSIDE Industry Association, and EPoSS for their trust and support. Initial impressions indicate that participants rated the professional and community environment at BME very positively.
Towards the Future
The Summer School confirmed that the fields of semiconductors – chips – design – systems – IoT – AI – and quantum computing are closely interconnected, and the knowledge gained directly contributes to the students’ professional development and to the future talent pipeline of the European ecosystem.
Congratulations to all participants on successfully completing the program, and thanks to everyone who contributed to making Budapest a memorable hub for this year’s ECS Summer School!
