Introduces students to systems built from devices familiar with Optical Networks. The subject provides an overview of single-channel, point-to-point connectivity, the construction of present and future multi-channel, high-speed backbone networks, from the core network to access networks, and special areas such as Radio over Fiber or visible light communication. Students in the subject will be proficient in the design tasks of the physical layer of optical networks.
